Special Issue of the Journal of
Engineering, Project, and Production Management (EPPM-Journal)
Title: Industrial IoT (IIoT) Strategies for Transforming Production Systems and Engineering Management Practice
Guest Editors: Dr. Dheeraj Kumar and Prof. Thippa Reddy Gadekallu and Dr. Makhduma F. Saiyed
Focus, Scope, and Rationale
The rapid evolution of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies is reshaping how modern industries design, manage, and optimize production systems. Connected sensors, cyber-physical systems, edge–cloud architectures, and intelligent automation enable real-time visibility, high-precision decision-making, and predictive operational capabilities. These innovations help industries transition from traditional reactive processes to proactive, data-driven engineering and management practices. As organizations move toward smart, interconnected production infrastructures, IIoT becomes a critical enabler of improved productivity, reduced operational costs, increased reliability, and enhanced sustainability.
However, successful IIoT integration requires overcoming complex challenges requiring interdisciplinary expertise across engineering management, production planning, project coordination, cybersecurity, interoperability, and organizational transformation. The Journal of Engineering, Project, and Production Management (EPPM-Journal), with its mission to integrate cross-disciplinary knowledge, is an ideal platform to explore how IIoT technologies intersect with managerial, engineering, and production-level decisions.
This Special Issue aims to gather cutting-edge research, frameworks, empirical studies, and industrial case analyses that show how IIoT can transform production systems and improve engineering management practices. It seeks contributions that present innovative strategies, practical methodologies, and implementation roadmaps that bridge emerging IIoT technologies with real-world industrial operations.
