Special Issue of the Journal of
Engineering, Project, and Production Management (EPPM-Journal)
Title: Machine Learning and Big Data Applications in Production and
Project Management
Guest Editors: Dr. Mudasir Mohd and Dr. Sheikh
Nasrullah
Focus, Scope, and Rationale
The rapid
development of machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and
big data analytics has transformed the landscape of engineering,
production, and project management. Modern production systems and
engineering projects increasingly rely on real-time data, predictive
modeling, automated decision-making, and intelligent optimization to
address challenges such as resource constraints, cost overruns, schedule
delays, supply chain disruptions, and quality variability.
This special
issue aims to consolidate cutting-edge research that integrates ML and
big data-driven approaches with the core domains of production and
project management. By bringing together studies from engineering,
industrial management, computing, and multidisciplinary fields, this
issue will highlight innovative methodologies, system frameworks,
decision-support tools, and empirical applications that enhance
efficiency, accuracy, sustainability, and resilience in industrial and
project environments.
The rationale
for this special issue is to provide a dedicated platform for
researchers and practitioners to exchange insights on how data-driven
intelligence can elevate traditional management frameworks and support
the transition toward digitalized, smart, and autonomous project and
production systems.
