Dr. M.J. Skibniewski
is the A. James Clark Chair Professor of Project Management in the
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University
of Maryland, College Park, USA, where he heads the e-Construction
Group, a scholarly unit devoted to the research and development of
innovative IT-based solutions to the challenges of project planning,
design and execution in the construction industry. He is currently
on an extended leave, serving as the Founding Dean of the College of
Engineering at Khalifa University of Science, Technology and
Research (KUSTAR) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Prof. Skibniewski also serves
as Editor-in-Chief of Automation in Construction, an international
research journal published by Elsevier, and as the North American
Editor of the Journal of Civil Engineering and Management. Between
1986 and 2005 Dr. Skibniewski served as Professor of Civil
Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Associate
Provost and Dean of International Programs at Purdue University in
West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. He received his M.S. and Ph.D.
degrees, both in Civil Engineering (Engineering Planning and
Management) from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. A recipient of numerous professional and academic
awards in the United States and abroad, Dr. Skibniewski is an author
or co-author of over 200 technical publications. Professor
Skibniewski's former Ph.D. students occupy prestigious positions in
academia, government and industry in the United States, the United
Kingdom, South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan.
